ImageEvery once in a while, being required to learn a certain skill can lead to a life-long dedication.  That happened to me when I was eleven years old, living in England, and took my first course in sewing.  Because I seemed to have a natural aptitude for it, I took other needlework courses during my high school years, and have had a passion for sewing and a real enthusiasm for buying good fabrics ever since.

ImageI fell in love with weaving while attending V.C.U. in Richmond, Virginia, where I received a BFA in Crafts in 1970. I enjoy weaving as much today as I did when I first picked up a shuttle. Weaving remains fascinating to me because it offers interesting technical challenges and unlimited creative potential. Even though my work isn't traditional I enjoy the connection I feel to the “tradition” of handweaving.
